Dinner was surreal
So easily given
Friendship from the young ones
Admiration, respect
Where nothing has been earned

Hidden secrets
Does she know that others know
That older brothers tell
Of pain within the family
Deeper, darker wells
And yet she gives so freely
Compassion, gentle care
