"Context" affects perception, as proved by the Gestalt. Context includes our ideas of our environment.
A powerful tool doesn't make a good product by itself. Excessive reliance on low-level, universally valid effects generally results in elements that are unsatisfying to the user, as they tend to have no "higher meaning" or "intellectual depth"
